Credit Card Processing Restrictions on Firearms

We are changing the credit card processing on our web-store. We apologize for any disruption or inconvenience in filing your orders.

After a short history with Square (an ecommerce credit card processing service), they have decided to permanently deactivate our account due to Section 3 and/or Section 4 of their General Terms.

Specifically Section 4.9; "...for the sale of firearms, firearm parts, ammunition, weapons or other devices designed to cause physical harm,..."Well, we do not sell firearms or ammunition, but we do sell parts, shooting, and hunting supplies. The key phrase hear is the interpretation of "...devices designed to cause physical harm,".

How far down the rabbit hole does this go? Could this category include pocket knives, kitchen knives, baseball bats, hammers, any and all hunting supplies etc....How many products are not designed to cause physical harm but can cause physical harm at the users choice.

I have been carrying a pocket knife since I was a kid eagerly trotting down to the nearest fishing hole.I have been an avid hunter many years before I could get a driver's license. I will continue with my lifestyle and will continue offering the same products as is my right to do so.

In my opinion, credit card processing restrictions targeting firearm parts does nothing but hurt legal businesses and innocent customers. Keep in mind that we do not sell any firearms or ammunition, but our entire business has been restricted. If Square does not want our business, then so be it. I will make a point to make sure Square has nothing to do with any of my future business sales or personal purchases.

What are your thoughts?
